     Ruth Dolores (Storey) Gott of Enfield passed away November 13, 2024, at Alexander IV Senior Living facility in Macon, Georgia. Dolores was born February 8, 1937, to Robert Elcie and Violet Storey, of Enfield, Illinois. She was the twin sister of Doris Brown and the younger sister of Walter Glenn Storey. Dolores was raised on a farm in rural Enfield, and attended elementary and high schools in town. She graduated from Mckendree College in Belleville, Illinois, in 1958 with her teaching degree. She married Reverend Everett E. Gott on June 6, 1958, in a double wedding ceremony at the Methodist Church in Enfield, which included her twin sister and her groom, Rev. Vernon Brown. Mrs. Gott served with her husband at several United Methodist Churches in Southern Illinois, retiring to his family home in Enfield in 1989. She enjoyed her years as pastor’s wife, and loved the people they served. Mrs. Gott was a substitute school teacher throughout Southern Illinois for many years, as well as an Assistant Kindergarten teacher at Booth School in Enfield. She loved her students and especially enjoyed teaching children to read, and in encouraging them in their artistic endeavors. She took care of many children and elderly, making sure they had what they needed. She loved directing the choirs in their churches, and especially enjoyed presenting community Christmas plays and cantatas. Dolores loved flowers and could grow anything. Her home and yard were always filled with beautiful blooms and growing things. She was an avid crocheter, making afghans for family and friends. She supported missionaries around the world, raising funds and making clothing and dolls for underprivileged children around the world.

     Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, R.E. and Violet (Walters) Storey of Enfield, her brother Walter Storey of Enfield, and by Everett, her husband of 61 years. She is survived by her twin sister, Ruby Doris Brown of Granite City, IL; many nieces and nephews, and her children: Larry Earl (Ruth) of Macon, Georgia, Anita Louise (Terry Logue),Macon,Georgia, Mark Wayne, of Macon, Georgia, Holly Ruth (Jeff Johnson), of Mount Vernon, Indiana; 15 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

      Funeral services for Dolores Gott, will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11:00 am, at Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield with burial at Enfield Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to join the family for visitation at 10:00 am. on Saturday, November, 23, 2024, at Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield.
