Dixie Ackerman

Dixie Wade Ackerman, 84, of Carmi, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. in Carmi, IL. She was born February 25, 1927 in West Frankfort, IL, the daughter of Robert Bruce and Dimple (Fulkerson) Wade. Dixie married Frank Hall Ackerman June 21, 1942 and he preceded her in death January 8, 1999. She was a homemaker and a member of Big Prairie Methodist Church.
Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Susan and Bill Weir of Springfield, IL, Nancy A. Winter of Carmi, and Darcy and Lamont Ellison of Evansville, IN; a son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Carol Ackerman of Carmi; two sisters, Vivian Williams of Carmi and Modell Leathers of Bedford, Texas; a brother, Robert Wade of Carmi; ten grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Dixie Wade Ackerman, 84, of Carmi, will be Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Big Prairie United Methodist Church near Carmi. Burial will be in Kuykendall Cemetery near Carmi. Friends may call on Saturday, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. On Sunday the body will lie in state at Big Prairie United Methodist Church from 12:00 p.m. until time of service.
Memorial gifts may be given in Dixie's name to Big Prairie United Methodist Church or St. Mary's Medical Center Foundation and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
