Diane Witherspoon, 83, of Carmi passed away at 4:30 pm Friday, March 23, 2012 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, IN. She was born February 2, 1929 in Blytheville, Arkansas the daughter of Ben and Helen (Boyd) Cooper. Diane married Richard Dale Witherspoon on July 31, 1948. She retired after 30 years of working for the White County Sheriffs Department and the White County Treasures office. Diane was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carmi,
Diane is survived by her husband of 63 years, Richard Dale of Carmi; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark Witherspoon and Chris and Laura Witherspoon all of Carmi; three granddaughters, Tracy Serra and her husband Jose, Kyley Witherspoon and Megan Witherspoon; a niece Heather Carlomago of Norris City and a nephew, Hunter Cooper of Norris City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, Lyle and Nell Boyd, a brother Stan Cooper and an infant brother.
Funeral Services for Diane Witherspoon, 83, of Carmi will be Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in Kingdom Cemetery near Carmi. Friend may call on Sunday after 12pm until service time.
