Densil Edwards, 95, of Norris City passed away at 7:30 a.m., Monday, May 1, 2017 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. He was born May 16, 1921 in Omaha, IL the son of Wayne K. and Lura (Hardesty) Edwards. Densil married Evelyn Joy Stovall on September 1, 1950 and she preceded him in death on May 25, 2015. He was a 1938 graduate of Norris City High School. Densil was a teacher at Norris City for 39 years where he spent 34 years teaching 7th grade and 5 years teaching 5th grade. He served in the United States Army as a Private First Class during World War II in the Philippines and also helped with Medical Corps. He was a former member of the Norris City Library Board and attended the Norris City United Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Densil is survived by a son, Mark Edwards of Norris City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy; a son, Michael R. Edwards on April 15, 2001 and a brother, Lavern Edwards.
Funeral services for Densil Edwards, 95, of Norris City will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Burial will be in Village Cemetery near Norris City. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Memorial contributions may be made in Densil's memory to the Norris City United Cumberland Presbyterian Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.
