David Harris

David Wayne Harris, 72, of Enfield, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.  He was born at his home in Norris City, Illinois, on July 16, 1949, the son of Rev. Wayne and Lucille (Sanders) Harris. He met the love of his life in 1979, and married Sharon Estella Price on June 7, 1980. David worked for farmers around town for several years in 1965.  He then went to Wabash Valley Jr. College for a couple of years where he studied to be a mechanic.  He got a job at Jo-Mac making gloves in Norris City, Illinois for two years in 1970.  He was also in the Army Reserve 825 Replacement Detachment Unit from November 5, 1970 until November 4, 1976.  David then went to work in Harrisburg, Illinois at Nationwide Glove Company for 29 years.  David had to retire in 2004, due to health problems. He was also involved in scouting, Lions Club and 4-H.  David was a member of the Enfield General Baptist Church since 1992.  He served as a Sunday School teacher, trustee, and performed various other duties to the church.  David also loved his cat, Puff.

David is survived by his wife, Sharon Price of Enfield, IL; two brothers, Leon (Sharon) Harris and Rev. Rodney (Pat) Harris; a sister, Janet (Dale) Gibson; nieces and nephews, Jim Harris, Caleb Harris, Erik Russell, Ronald Shelton Jr, Kristy Hancock, Kristie Russell and Crystal Nolan; a brother-in-law, Gary Price; a sister-in-law, Shirley Shelton, and one great-nephew, Dylan Hancock.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl Wayne Harris and Helen Lucille (Sanders) Harris; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral Services for David Harris will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield, with burial at Enfield Cemetery.  Family and friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022, at Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield. Contributions in David’s memory may be made to the Enfield General Baptist Church and will be accepted at Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield who is in charge of arrangements.
