David Bruce DeMarcus, 63, of Norris City passed away at 12:47 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2015 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado, IL. He was born June 2, 1951 in Kannapolis, NC the son of Eugene Franklin and Thelma (Scarborough) DeMarcus. David married Diane M. Gilliam on May 12, 1984. He was a Police officer and retired as a document security specialist at IBM and later Lockheed-Martin in Manassas, VA. David served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam as part of the Army Intelligence and received two Purple Hearts.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Diane of Norris City; two daughters, Christine Michelle Neal of Denver, CO and Ashley Nicole Knight and husband Chris of Lottsburg, VA; three sisters, Lynn Pagano of St. Augustine, FL and Judy Petrea and Amy Paterson of Kannapolis, NC; two brothers, Eugene DeMarcus of Brentwood, TN and David's twin, Brian DeMarcus of Anchorage, AK; three grandchildren, Erica Neal and Nickolai and Adriana Knight; a sister-in-law, Kate Land and husband Skip of Norris City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life of David B. DeMarcus, 63, of Norris City will be held at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with Pastor Chris Marsh officiating. Full military rites will be performed by the Carmi American Legion and VFW. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. Memorial Contributions may be made in David's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
