Darwin Esche

Darwin F. Esche, age 74 of Mount Vernon, IN, went to be with his Savior on Thursday afternoon, October 8, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was born August 13, 1935 in Mt. Vernon, the son of Frederick and Zelda (Waltz) Esche. He married Patricia Marie (Wright) on October 11, 1956 in Evansville, IN.


Darwin farmed his entire life and did a lot of custom work. He graduated from Mt. Vernon Sr. High School in 1954 along with several trade schools, and was an accomplished mechanic. He attended The Church Koinonia and also attended the Church of God Mission on Sunday evenings.


He is survived by his wife, Patricia; one son and daughter-in-law, Marlin Ray and Sandra Esche of Mt. Vernon; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Gayle and Kenneth Wells of Haubstadt, IN; seven grandchildren, John Esche, Kenneth Lee Wells, Terry Lee Wells, Bessie Marie Tinsley, Richard Frederick Wells, Frederick Marcus Esche and Darvin Paul Esche; three great-grandchildren, Lacie Wells, Gary Esche and Nathan Tinsley; four step-grandchildren, Norman Gunter, Jr., Wendie Miller, Ashley Hartley and Cheryl Ashley; two step great-grandchildren, Abbi Miller and Baliey Miller; one brother-in-law, Harlan Wright of Mt. Vernon; two sister-in-laws, Wilma Jean Douthitt of Maryland and Linda Woolsey of West Palm Beach, FL.


Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday October 12, 2009 at the Austin~Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th Street, Mt. Vernon, IN with burial in Caborn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 on Saturday October 10, 2009 and from Noon until 8 p.m. on Sunday October 11, 2009 at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at austinfuneralhome.com
