Darrell Dean Lawler, 71, of Carmi passed away at 4:16 a.m., Thursday, July 24, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 14, 1943 in Danville, IL the son of Robert and Pauline (Swank) Lawler. Dean married Sheila Louise Dalton on June 12, 1971. He had worked at Home Depot and for TWA Airlines at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago. Dean was a Vietnam U.S. Navy veteran serving on board the U.S.S. Bauer. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Carmi.
Dean is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sheila; two daughters, Kim Midkiff and husband Isaac Mendoza of Cary, IL and Stephanie Lawler of Long Island, NY; a brother, Edward Lawler and his wife, Alice of Winnebago, IL; three grandchildren, Amanda Mendoza and Isaac Daniel Mendoza both of Cary and Sara Mendoza of Columbus, OH; two great-grandsons, Mickey Jonathon Ford and Keith Edward Wilson; and nephew, Jason Lawler and niece, Katie Lawler of Winnebago, IL.
Funeral services for Darrell Dean Lawler, 71, of Carmi will be 12:00 p.m., Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1102 Jill St., Carmi with Pastor Dean Spooner officiating. Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery near Norris City with Military Rites by the Carmi American Legion and VFW. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi on Saturday from 4:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Dean's memory to American Heart Association, Our Savior Lutheran Church or the Diabetes Association and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
