Dalton Eugene Hardin, 76 of Mt. Vernon, passed away Tuesday August 23, 2016 at St. Marys Hospital in Evansville. He was born June 14, 1940 in Mt. Vernon, the son of Alonzo and Opal (Smith) Hardin.
Dalton had worked as a welder at Babcock & Wilcox for 13 1/2 years before working for G.E. Plastics, retiring in 2000. As a young man, he served his country in the United States Navy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, several siblings and a great-grandson.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Jo Ann; son, Jamie Lee Hardin; brother, Frank Hardin and sister, Mary Cox. He is also survived by his step-children, Rhonda (Wes) Bird, David VanZant, Mark (Barbara) VanZant, Brenda (Paul) Upshaw, and Sandy (George) Thompson; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Friday August 26, 2016 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon with Rev. Dallas Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Friday.
