Cyril Doerner, 82, of Norris City passed away at 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Norris City, IL on October 19, 1933 the son of Leland Sylvester and Mabel Irene (Rodgers) Doerner. Cyril married Elba Julia Munoz on May 2, 1959 and she preceded him in death on August 9, 1996. He later married Sylvia Allen and she preceded him in death. Cyril retired after 34 years of teaching from Carmi Community High School.
Cyril was an active Mason and member of May Lodge #718, Enfield Lodge #677 and Equality Lodge #2 where he held several positions. He was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Hadi Shrine, White Shrine, and Scottish Rite where he served in various positions. In his younger years he was a Boy Scout. Cyril was an avid woodworker, loved camping along with being a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Surviving are a daughter, Vanessa Miley of Virginia Beach, VA; a son, David Doerner of Norris City; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Yvonne and Glenn Cox of Norris City and Ellen and Lyle Funkhouser of Okemos, MI; a sister-in-law, Yolanda Murphy of Chicago; three grandchildren, Melissa Miley, David W. Doerner and Travis Doerner; three great-grandchildren, Westley Miley, Greenly Doerner and Coltston Doerner; along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Cyril Doerner, 82, of Norris City will be at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with Rev. Dale Best officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery near Norris City with full military honors. Visitation will be Friday, July 22, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home with Masonic Rites at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607 and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.
