Louie Coleman Heriges, age 78 of Mt. Vernon, died Friday evening June 4, 2010 at the Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born July 10, 1931 in Mt. Vernon the son of Walter and Ida Lena (Dickens) Heriges. He married Wilma Parker on December 2, 1950 in Henderson, KY.
Coleman retired from Mead Johnson after 40 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was one of the first Cub Football coaches. He was a past member of the Mt. Vernon Elks Club. Coleman was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Gail Heriges of Lafayette and Keith and Jan Heriges of Mt. Vernon; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Andy White of Mt Vernon; nine grandchildren, Erin Kuhn, Amanda Gentry, Jacob Heriges, Laura Lowery, Joshua Hamblin, Adam White, Christopher Heriges, Alex White and Aric White; seven great-grandchildren, Dalton and Dillon Kuhn, Kelsey Lowery, Carter and Alexis Heriges and Elias and Isabella Gentry; one sister, Mildred Kennedy of Evansville. He was preceded in death by one brother Earl Heriges and two sisters, Allebelle Blackburn and Mina O’Dell.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday June 8, 2010 at the Austin~Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon with burial in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
