On the evening of April 5, 2015 Cloyd W. Walker passed away at his Enfield home. His parents William Anderson and Muriel (Gunter) Walker brought this remarkable person into this world on January 21, 1933 in Enfield. Cloyd spent 82 years touching the lives of numerous people. He was a blessing to everyone.
Cloyd was legendary for helping friends and neighbors. From working at Inland Steel's coal mines to welding, his talents were many. He was a member of the Kane County Mounted Patrol, an Army veteran and a member of the Cumberland Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Cloyd was a past president and active member of the Enfield Lions Club and a proud member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Cloyd and Nancy Schusler married December 8, 1952 at the Methodist parsonage in Carmi. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Cheri Walker; sons, Cloyd and Paul Walker; three grandsons, Justin (Briana) and Cody (Ashley) Dodd and Jake Walker; two great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Gunner Cloyd Dodd; two brothers, Randall and Phillip Walker; six sisters, Rose Ragen, Sharon Sellers, Fern Johns, Carol Becker, Dena Hunt, and Becky Johnson; sister-in-law, Jeanine (Glen) Smith; also numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cynthia; brother, Thornton Walker, sisters, Beulah Roberts and Bernadine Thrun; a set of twins and an infant.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday April 12, 2015 at the Enfield United Methodist Church. The family asks that flowers and donations be omitted as they would like for you to share your memories of Cloyd.Military rites will be conducted by the Carmi American Legion and V.F.W. at the beginning of the service at church.
