Claudette Elouise (Simmons) Carner, 81, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Thursday March 3 at her home after a long battle with Alzheimers.
Claudette was born on October 10, 1934 to Edgar and Phoebe (Nugent) Simmons, raised in Gibson and Posey County and Graduated from Griffin High School.
Claudette worked over 20 years at the Griffin Post office and made many lifelong friends. She was a Member of the Griffin Friendship Club as well as the Griffin Home- Ec. Club.
Claudette met her husband Guy at a local Square Dance. She loved to work in her flower gardens, crafting, working crossword puzzles, going out to eat at Logans and spending quality with her family and friends
Claudette is proceeded in death by her husband of 59 years Guy Elwood Carner, her Parents and 3 Brothers, James, Wink and H.G. Simmons.
She is survived by daughters, Diana (Carner) Rash, Belinda (Carner) and Wiley Yancy and Son Guy E. Carner II and Twyala (Niehaus) Carner, Sisters Odessa Straw and Lydia Holderness, Brothers Gordon and Edgar Allen Simmons, Grandchildren James Rash IV, Amy (Rash) Smith, Anna Rash, , Melissa Irwin-Miller, Erin Yancy, Christian and Kaitlyn Carner and her Great-Grandchildren, Hannah Miller, Jackson, Harrison and Lilly Smith and our newest family members, her Caregiver Deidre Wright and baby Adelei.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday March 7, 2016 at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, IN with Pastor Greg Morrison officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until time of services on Monday.
Friends and family are ask to meet at 10 a.m. on Tuesday March 8, 2016 at Bethsaida Cemetery near Stewartsville, IN,
