Clarence S. Wilson, age 93, of Carmi, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013, at Deaconess Hospital. He was born June 15, 1919 in Hamilton County, the son of Elza and Turza (Downen) Wilson, He married Delma L. Millikan on June 22, 1942 in Cape Girardeau, MO and she preceded him in death on May 3, 2011.
Clarence had worked for John Deere and Mallettes Implements. He had been a bus driver for Carmi schools and was the custodian at the First United Methodist Church in Carmi. He was a longtime captain on fire truck #6 on the Carmi Fire Department and was a member of the First Christian Church in Carmi.
He is survived by his daughters, Alma Doris (Jerry) Erwin of Marion and Shelly (Stuart) Davis of Cynthiana, IN; one brother, Bill W. (Nancy) Wilson of Carmi; two sisters, Fannie Spence and Helen Doris (Creighton) Hampton all of Carmi; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Kay (J.P.) Caldwell and Mary (John) Roye all of Gasinesville, TX; grandchildren, Bill (Patty) Erwin, Tammy Wheeler, Jeff (Dawn) Erwin, Anthony (Kira) Sexton and Adam (Aja Blair) Sexton; great-grandchildren, Matthew (Erin) Sneed, Montanna Sneed, Dustin (Holly) Erwin, Rebekah Erwin, Taylor Wheeler, Tyler, Jake, Kyle and Austin Erwin and Lexi Sexton; great-great-grandchildren, Braeden, Jovie and Kameryn Erwin, Isabelle and Bronc Sneed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, and two sisters, Alta Pottorff and Edna Fern Wilson.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday March 28, 2013 at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi with Rev. Steve McClure officiating. Visitation will be from noon until time of services.
