Cheryle Leigh Walters, 62, of Norris City, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at her home, surrounded by family. She was born on June 28, 1961, in LaGrange, Illinois, the daughter of William Vonnell and Barbara Joyce (Morris) Long. Cheryle married Donald Rand Walters on July 18, 1980, and he survives. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Norris City. Cheryle was a part of the Illinois Baptist Disaster Relief team, where she participated in many disaster efforts by cooking meals for those who had been displaced. She also was part of the Crisis Pregnancy Center in Norris City, at the First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband Rand Walters of Norris City, IL. Cheryle’s children were the light of her life, including the two who survive her, Amy Marie Quertermous of Norris City, IL. and Andrew Seth (Patience) Walters of Norris City, IL; and her three infant sons, Ashley Rand Walters, Cody Daniel Walters, and Adam Kyle Walters. who were waiting to greet her in heaven. Other survivors include, grandchildren, Austin Rand Quertermous, Eli James Quertermous, Addyson Jade Walters, Quinilly Harper Walters, and Gabryel Reid Walters; siblings, Desira (Greg) Purcell of Norris City, IL, Kathy (Keith) Millspaugh of Newton, IL, and Barbara (Earl) McKenzie of Norris City, IL; mother-in-law, Helen Abell of Norris City, IL; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two siblings, William Farin Long and Bonnell Long.
A graveside service for Cheryle Walters will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Old Prairie Cemetery in Norris City, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Cheryle's memory to Illinois Baptist Disaster Relief and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, who is in charge of arrangements.
