Charles W. Vaughan

     Charles W. Vaughan, Sr., 73, of Carmi, IL passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at his residence.  He was born September 30, 1949, the son of Frederick James and Sallie Jane (Young) Vaughan.  Charles married Anna Bell in 1974 and she survives.  Charles worked as a CPA and for many years in the oilfield industry, doing every possible job except tool pusher. He later spent several years working for Trelleborg Molding.  He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing, along with cutting firewood and playing softball.  Charles enjoyed spending time with his family and neighbors and playing various card games.. 

     In addition to his wife, Anna, Charles is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Scottie (Rachel) Vaughan, of Cowling, IL and Charles (Pamela) Vaughan, Jr. of Brownsville, IL; one daughter and son-in-law, Samantha (Jonathan) Pearce of Norris City, IL; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Willard Eugene Vaughan, two granddaughters, and one grandson.

     Funeral services for Charles W. Vaughan, Sr., 73, of Carmi will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2023 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Burial will follow in North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Memorial donations can be made in Charles' memory to a donor's favorite charity and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
