Charles Pierce

Charles Frederick Pierce, 101, of Carmi passed away at 1:25 p.m., Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi.  He was born in Phillips Township, IL on May 9, 1916 the son of Joseph Zabud and Catherine Elizabeth (Gabel) Pierce. Frederick worked in the Del Monte Canning Factory from 1950 to 1976 before going to work as a grain farmer.  He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in Signal Services.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including locally, Patsy (Walter) Stahl of Burnt Prairie and Diane (Paul) Burch of Zionsville, IN; a sister-in-law, Marge Pierce of DeKalb, IL: and numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Frederick was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Dorothy Duffin; and three brothers, Amos B., Thomas A. and John Franklin Pierce.

Funeral Services for Charles Frederick Pierce, 101, of Carmi will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.  Burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Enfield with Military Rites by the Carmi VFW and American Legion.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to service time at 2:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made in Charles Frederick's memory to the Wabash Christian Village Chapel and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
