Charles E. Hunsinger, 86, of Carmi passed away at 7:46 a.m., Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield, IL. He was born June 4, 1928 in Burnt Prairie, IL the son of Raymond and Lulu (Pollard) Hunsinger. Charles was preceded in death by his wife Christina, his parents and very special step-mother who raised him, Bessie Hunsinger. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force and achieving the rank of Staff Sgt. Charles was a fork lift operator at Phelps Dodge Cable in DuQuion. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Springerton American Legion Post #1126.

Surviving are five daughters, Roxann Stobie of N. Chesterfield, VA, Sharon Breen of Topeka, KS, Diana Ouellette of S. China, ME, Pammy Walker of Cornville, ME and Charlotte Hunsinger of Carmi; four sons, Leslie Hunsinger of Hermon, ME, Charles R. Hunsinger of Carmi, Clinton Hunsinger of Carmi and Charles Edwards of Gray, ME; two sisters, Marilyn Cleveland and Frances Nelson both of Carmi; a brother, Donald Hunsinger of Washington, IN; 22 grandchildren including his caregiver, Amanda Hunsinger of Carmi, 17 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Charles E. Hunsinger, 86, of Carmi will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with a Graveside service and burial at 1:00 p.m. in East Fork Cemetery near West Frankfort with military honors by the West Frankfort American Legion Post #1961. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday after 9:00 a.m. Memorial Contributions may be made in Charles's memory to First Bank Giving Tree and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
