Charles Farmer "Chuck" Edwards, 96, of Norris City passed away at 4:50 pm, Monday, August 21, 2017 at his residence. He was born February 24, 1921 in Norris City, IL the son of Charles Ewing and Lynda (Farmer) Edwards. Chuck graduated from the Norris City High School in 1938 and attended and graduated from the University of Illinois on a track scholarship. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater being stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines. Chuck retired in 1986 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
He was a member, elder, served as Treasurer and cemetery trustee at Village Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Chuck also was a 70 plus year member of Omaha Masonic Lodge, was a member of the Carmi VFW, Norris City American Legion and had served on the Norris City School Board.
Chuck is survived by a daughter, Susan Healy of Norris City; three sons, Keith (Sally Little) Edwards, Brett (Regina) Edwards all of Norris City and Ryan (Melanie) Edwards of Subic Bay, Philippines; 13 grandchildren, Brian Edwards, Holly Hubele, Bruce Edwards, Jillian Edwards, April Bolin, Jarred Bolin, Branden Quillman, Caleb Quillman, and Gian, Gelo, Skyler, Gage and Dannielle Edwards; and 10 great grandchildren, Emily, Hanna, Eva, Garrett, Brandon, Emme, Marshall, Julianna, Ashlyn and Lyla. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, John Robert Edwards, six sisters, Fae Moore, Osa Wayne Bartnicki, Ada Edwards, Ama Mosby, Roxie Dry and Reta Douglas and a brother, Elmo W. Edwards.
Funeral services for Charles Farmer "Chuck" Edwards, 96, of Norris City will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with Joe Skaggs officiating. Burial will be in Village Cemetery near Norris City with military rites by the Carmi American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Memorial contributions may be made in Chuck's memory to Village Cumberland Presbyterian Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.
