Charles D. "Doug" Hunsinger, 73, of Burnt Prairie went to spend his birthday with Jesus. Doug passed away at 10:38 a.m., Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He was born January 19, 1941 in Anderson, IN the son of Charles G. and Pauline (Holmes) Hunsinger. He married Betty K. Duckworth on August 10, 1963. Doug was a U.S. Army veteran serving with the 101st Airborne Division and had worked as an electrician at Whirlpool, at Babcock and Wilcox and as a grain farmer. He was a faithful servant to Ashland Christian Church were he served on the church board, as a deacon and as treasurer. He was a member of Burnt Prairie Masonic Lodge #668.

Doug is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty of Burnt Prairie; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Michelle Hunsinger and Aaron and Charlene Hunsinger all of Carmi; two sisters, Connie Barnett of McLeansboro and Diana K. Smith of Carmi; and six grandchildren, Danielle Hunsinger, Alexa Hunsinger, Lauren Hunsinger, Austin Hunsinger, Andrew Hunsinger and Alex Hunsinger. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Delbert Dean Hunsinger.

Funeral Services for Charles D. "Doug" Hunsinger, 73, of Burnt Prairie will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Braden Willis officiating. Burial will be in West Antioch Cemetery near Mill Shoals will full Military Honors by the Carmi American Legion and VFW. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made in Doug's memory to Ashland Christian Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
