Charles E. "Chuck" Braden, Jr., 95, of Carmi, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 3:10 p.m. at Deaconess Hospice in Evansville, IN. He was born August 9, 1917 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Charles Elwood and Mildred (Kline) Braden, Sr. Chuck married Evelyn Lorene Helsel June 6, 1942 and she preceded him in death on April 13, 2000. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Sicily, Italy where he served as a combat engineer. Chuck was a certified public accountant and owned Braden's Accountant and Braden's Fixit Shop. He was a member of the Harrisburg VFW and Masonic Lodge and a licensed pilot.
Chuck is survived by a daughter, Barbara Brewer of Carmi; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles E. "Brad" and Marcia Braden of Carmi; a brother and sister-in-law, Glenn T. and Inga Braden of Marrietta, Georgia; three grandchildren, Courtney Thompson, Meghan Braden and Dustin Holloman; and four great-grandchildren, Abbie, Issac and Cade Thompson and Chyler Govreau.
Services for Charles E. "Chuck" Braden will be private. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
