Charlene Burns

Charlene R. (Davis) Burns, 80, of Carmi, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 12:50 p.m. at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. She was born December 31, 1934 in Clinton, Illinois, the daughter of Charles Andrew "Charlie" and Rose (Patterson) Davis.

Charlene married Robert John "Boo" Burns on December 19, 1953 and he preceded her in death on June 7, 2011. She was a housewife and mother of four. Charlene loved reading, watching TV and the Chicago Cubs.

Charlene is survived by three sons, Mark (Beth) Burns of Grayville, Joe Burns of Carmi and Phil (Anne) Burns of Brownsburg, IN; three grandchildren, Josh Burns of Evansville, IN, Mitch and Ross Burns both of Brownsburg, IN; and a sister, Clara Douthit of Lincoln, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Danny Burns; and a sister, Alice Soran.

A Celebration of Life for Charlene Burns, 80, of Carmi, will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. A private burial will be held at St. Polycarp Catholic Cemetery in Carmi.

Memorial gifts may be given in Charlene's name to Brownsville School and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
