Carrie Shain, 96, of Marion, formerly of Norris City, passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 at 6:45 p.m. at Parkway Manor in Marion. She was born January 17, 1916 in Ridgway, IL the daughter of Elbert and Anna Belle (Holland) Bayley. She married Floyd Stovall Shain on June 14, 1936 and he preceded her in death on June 21, 2011. Carrie had worked as a postal clerk and was a member of Norris City United Methodist Church where she was involved in numerous church activities and served as church secretary for 60 years.
Carrie is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Suzann and William Kinsall of Marion; two grandchildren, Gregory Kinsall and his wife Brenda of Dublin, OH and Matthew E. Kinsall and his girlfriend, Dawn of Lewis Center, OH; a sister Vivian Shepard Hilton Head, SC and a god daughter, Christie Trout of Norris City.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, David Lawrence Shain, a sister, Reba Crawford and three brothers, Lawrence, Leland and Ralph Bayley.
Funeral Services for Carrie Shain, 96, of Marion, will be Friday, June 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Norris City with Rev. Janet Roy officiating. Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery near Norris City. Friends may call at the Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m and after 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made in Carrie's memory to the United Methodist Church Organ Fund or Building Fund and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.
