Carolyn Taylor, 74, of Grayville, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born March 23, 1939 in Carmi,IL, the daughter of Wilford and Lorene (Jones) Edmondson. Carolyn married Robert Allan Taylor March 11, 1967. She worked as a telephone operator/records clerk with General Telephone Co. and retired after 34 years. Carolyn enjoyed flea markets and had booths at several around the area. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Carmi, the GWRRA and a former 11 year member of the YWCA and Evansville Lapidary Society. Carolyn and her husband loved to travel. They traveled by motorcycle to all but three of the 48 states, logging in over 68,000 miles without a single accident.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert of Grayville; her mother, Lorene Edmondson of Carmi; a sister and brother-in-law, Willa and Thomas L. "John" Hubele of Carmi; a niece, Melinda Hubele; and a brother-in-law, Leonard and Patsy Taylor of Albion. She was preceded in death by her father, Wilford Edmondson.
Graveside funeral and burial services for Carolyn Taylor, 74, of Grayville, will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi. There is no visitation and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be given in Carolyn's name to Emmanuel United Methodist Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
