Biography

Carolyn M. Key, aged 70, died peacefully in her home in Mount Vernon, IN on June 13, 2014. She was born to Edna M. Jacobs and to the late Merle F. Jacobs on July 13, 1943.

Carolyn was a life-long member of the Mt. Vernon General Baptist Church, where she served over the years in many capacities, including Sunday School Teacher and Vacation Bible School Director. Carolyn was also a member of the Women’s Missionary Circle, a group of women whose friendship and fellowship she treasured throughout her life.

Carolyn worked for 22 years for the Mt. Vernon School District, in the West School Cafeteria. She loved children and enjoyed working on their behalf daily.
Carolyn was also a talented seamstress, always more than happy to gift her friends many baby blankets, quilts, and even sewing tips for those who wished to learn the craft.

Carolyn loved to travel both domestically and abroad. She enjoyed visiting her pen pal from England, to whom she had faithfully corresponded since elementary school. By her husband James’ side and with her children and quite often her mother, she made many vacations & lasting memories, having a wonderful time with her family over the years.
