Carolyn Fitzsimons

Carolyn (Smith) Fitzsimons, 73, of Carmi, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at 5:05 a.m. at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. She was born on January 8, 1942 in Seymour, Indiana, the daughter of William Albert and Virginia Margaret (Rayl) Smith. Carolyn married Bernard Francis Fitzsimons, III on March 3, 1962 and he preceded her in death May 26, 1986. Carolyn served in the U.S. Air Force and worked at Boeing in Anaheim, CA. She was an avid bingo player and a member of the Carmi VFW Auxillary, where she had served as president.

Carolyn is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Leigh Anne and James Smith of Mt. Vernon, IN; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenneth Michael Fitzsimons of Carmi and Bernard Francis and Annette Fitzsimons, IV of Hesperia, CA; four sisters, Martha Moore of Nevada, Sherry, Rita Guthrie and Diana Hall all of California; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Gen Lou Smith of Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Michael (Laci) Smith of Mt. Vernon, IN, David Smith and Bryan (Ashley) Smith all of Carmi and Kayla (Nick) Sanchez and Nick Fitzsimons all of Hesperia, CA; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Marilyn Smith; and a brother, William Smith.
