Carol Lynn Faulkner

      Carol Lynn (Gerdes) Faulkner 76, of Carmi, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Meadowbrook Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Grayville, Illinois. She was born on January 16, 1947, in Carmi, Illinois, the daughter of Gerald "Depo" and Mary Evelyn (Collins) Gerdes. She married Hal Faulkner and he preceded her in death. She later married Laverne Rutherford, and he also preceded her in death. Carol worked as the Carmi City Clerk for a time, and then went on to work various jobs throughout her life. She grew up going to the Church of God. Carol loved spending time with her family and friends.

     Carol is survived by her son, Collins (Sandee) Faulkner of Carmi, IL; a grandchild, Baylea Lynn Faulkner; siblings, Bill (Pamela) Gerdes of Birmingham, AL,  and Jim (Marie) Gerdes of Norfolk, VA; a sister-in-law, Carol Jean Gerdes; nieces and nephews, Billy Gerdes,Tracy Gerdes, Amy Gerdes, Michael Gerdes, Julia Gerdes and Megan Gerdes. In addition to her husband,  Hal Faulkner and husband, Laverne Rutherford, Carol is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Kenneth Gerdes.

     A memorial service for Carol Faulkner will be held at a later date. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
