Carla Buchanan, 66, of Plano, TX, formerly of Mission, Kansas, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon October 3, 2015 due to Alzheimer’s Disease.
Mrs. Buchanan was married to Dan Buchanan on May 15, 1995 in Carmi, IL. Previously, they lived and worked in Prairie Mission, Kansas. Carla was a member of The Lenexa, Kansas Optimist Club performing volunteer work and received a Volunteer of the Year award. Carla enjoyed the companionship of retired racing greyhounds, Image, Shadow, and Red. Carla also enjoyed painting, gardening, travel, fine dining and trying out new restaurants were other passions.
She was the daughter of Clarence Arthur Williams and Verna Pearl (Callicotte) Williams. She graduated from Illinois State University, Normal, with a Bachelor of Science in Education, majoring in Psychology. Carla worked most of her life as an Information Systems consultant for McDonnell Douglas, IBM, EDS and NAIC. She received the National Emphasis Award for work on one of the first high speed imaging system in the country and subsequently was recruited for IBM’s National Image Consulting Group.
Surviving Mrs. Buchanan are her husband, Dan Buchanan, her sister, Lauren Lesko, Rob and Kathleen Chapman (her niece) and their daughters, Isabelle Chapman and Elena Chapman, Alex (her nephew) and Jen Lesko and their children, Madison Chin, Madeline Lesko, and Peyton Chin and Mick (her nephew) and Emily Lesko, and their children Tristan Lesko, Mickaela Lesko, and Elijah Lesko.
Mrs. Buchanan was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Verna Williams, and one brother, David Alan Williams.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale@Creekside formerly Emeritus@Creekside Memory Care Unit for their dedication and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
