Carl Gene Guinn, 87 of Crossville, went home to be with the Lord, early Thursday morning May 7, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born October 1, 1927 at Crossville, the son of Thomas J. and Rhoda (Garner) Guinn. He married Ava Stover, the mother of his children and she preceded him in death in 2003.
Carl had worked in the oil field and farmed his entire life. He enjoyed coon hunting, gardening and Wheel of Fortune. He attended Hopewell Baptist Church. He loved his special dog, Maggie.
He is survived by his son, Ron (Diane) Guinn of McLeansboro; his daughter, Velma Pennington of Crossville; seven grandchildren, Connie Trotter, Carolyn Beam, Everett Gwaltney, Shannon Gwaltney, Rhyannon Bowles, Ashley Burton and Brad Bincsik; 12 great-grandchildren, his brother, Henry Guinn of Carmi and his sister, Ferral Jacobs of Crossville. He was preceded in death by one brother, Sam Guinn and one sister, Amanda Guinn.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m on Sunday May 10, 2015 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi with burial in Stokes Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m on Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com
