Bruce Stokes

Bruce Stokes, 82,  of Carmi, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Gallatin Manor in Ridgway.  Bruce was born December 26, 1934, the son of Samuel and Beulah (York) Stokes.  He married Mardella Lavena Russell on October 13, 1956 and she preceded him in death on March 14, 2009.  Bruce served in the U. S. Army from 1953-1956 during the Korean War. He owned and operated Stokes Backhoe Service and was a member of Cherry Street General Baptist Church and the American Legion.

Bruce is survived by two brothers, Bob (Sue) Stokes and Ronnie (Euna) Stokes, both of Norris City; along with several nieces and nephews,  Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Glenn Stokes and Leroy Stokes and two sisters, Donna  Bradley and Josephine Masonheimer.

Funeral services for Bruce Stokes, 82, of Carmi will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Rev. Lowes Browning officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at Campbell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Kuykendall Cemetery near Carmi with military rites by the Carmi American Legion and VFW.  Memorial contributions may be made in Bruce's memory to the Baptist Children's Home and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
