Brenda Goemaat

Brenda Goemaat, 64, of Carmi, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 2:39 a.m. at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born April 25, 1949 in Evansville, Indiana, the daughter of William Albert and Edna Marie (Clem) Johnson. Brenda married John Ernest Goemaat on September 8, 1985 and he preceded her in death May 6, 2006. She was a member of the New Beginning Church of God in Carmi.

Brenda is survived by a daughter, Lisa Ann Quinn of Evansville,IN; two stepdaughters, Lee Anne Goemaat of Pella, IA and Sheila Harrington of North Judson, IN; a son, Michael Lynn Thomas of Carmi; two stepsons, Ernest Lee (Cheryl) Goemaat of Harrisburg and Steven Goemaat; three sisters, Tamara Rankin and Patricia Grant both of Carmi and Alberta Morell of Evansville, IN; and a half sister, Sondra Johnson Lamey of Evansville, IN; five grandchildren; and numerous stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Edith Pauline Johnson and Karless Rogers; and a brother, William Albert Johnson, Jr.

Funeral services for Brenda Goemaat, 64, of Carmi, will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Rev. Keith Moore officiating. Burial will be in North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi. Friends may call on Friday, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
