Biography
Bobby Gene Ackerman, 60, of Shawneetown, IL died on Monday morning, September 22, 2014, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado. He was born July 12, 1954, in Eldorado, the son of Everett and Edith Ackerman.
Bobby was in the U. S. Navy for 28 years and was a Vietnam and Desert Storm veteran. He had been a member of the American Legion Posts in Shawneetown, Harrisburg and New Haven.
He is survived by his sons John “Bobby” Ackerman of Springerton and Fredrick Shaheen of Horn Lake, Mississippi , five grandchildren and special friend Linda L. Hayes.
Graveside services for Bobby Gene Ackerman will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014, at 10 A.M. at Kuykendall Cemetery near Carmi with military rites by the combined units of the Carmi American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the funeral home.
