Billy R. Taylor, 70, of Carmi, died Friday morning May 2, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. He was born October 27, 1943 in Livingston, TN the son of Lennie A. Taylor. He married the love of his life, Karla Hogue on December 7, 1993.

Bills heart and passion was the oilfield. He was a driller for Rector Stone and Goff & Pruitt for many years. He was a hard working man. He had a passion for playing the guitar and loved to hunt. He loved his beloved dog, Fritz. He was a loving husband, father, grand-father, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife Karla ; children; Billy (Elizabeth) Taylor , Shelly Taylor ,Sheila (Kelly) Savage all of Carmi , Nicky Case (Jeremy Richmond) of Newburgh , IN Donnie Stover, Jr. of Gatlinburg, TN , Holly (Garry) Grisham of Eldorado , IL , Joe Stover ( Jennifer Newman) of Carmi , IL and Angel Boren ( Jr. Rankin) of Carmi , IL; nineteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and twins due in November; brothers, Jerry (Kay) Taylor of Wewoka, OK and Dwight Taylor of Fairfield IL ; sister, Anna Lee Taylor of Fairfield IL . He was preceded in death by his mother, Lennie; sisters, Barbara Taylor, Betty Connors, and Joy Mick; brother, Bobby Taylor; and two great-grandbabies, Jamin Luke Contello and Kullen Rey Coons.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday May 6, 2014 at the Carmi New Beginnings Church of God with Rev. Keith Moore officiating. Burial will be in Kuykendall Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday May 5, 2014 at the church. The Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
