Billy Gibbs

Billy Joe Gibbs, 51, of Mt. Vernon, IN, left us on November 17, 2008 to be with the Lord. He was born on September 10, 1957 in Valdosta, Georgia, the son of William G. and Mary E. (Harris) Gibbs.


Mr. Gibbs had worked at Mt. Vernon Barge Company, CGB Grain and Mt. Vernon Water & Sewer Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, Nascar, and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He will be missed dearly, but never forgotten.


He is survived by his mother, Mary E. McGrath of Mt. Vernon; one son, Corey Yieda of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Casey Gibbs and Courtney Gibbs, both of Indianapolis, IN; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Margie and Ronald Carr of Evansville, IN, Linda Gibbs, JoAnn Biggs and Betty Schneider, all of Mt. Vernon, Judy Spieker and her fiancée, Charlie Stokes of Evansville, and Debbie and Darrell Ross of Logansport, IN; several nephews, Johnny Gibbs, Brad and Chris Utley, Jason and Jacob Spieker, and Curt Schneider, all of Mt. Vernon; nieces, Karen Kunellis of Evansville, Mary Ann Bennington of Mt. Vernon, Misty Pfefferkorn and Mimi Harness of Logansport, IN; and several great nephews and nieces, Skyler Greathouse, Mason Pfefferkorn, Makala Pfefferkorn, Kelsey Thompson, and Blake Utley. He was preceded in death by his father, William G. Gibbs.


Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Austin Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the funeral home.
