Betty Young

Betty Lou Young, 85, of Carmi, passed away at 11:05 a.m., Friday, March 31, 2017 in Thompsonville, IL. She was born March 21, 1932 in Hamilton County, IL the daughter of Joel and Zelma (Hutchison) Rose. Betty married Fred Young on May 15, 1978 and he preceded her in death on December 9, 2011. She was a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.  Betty was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and Carmi White-County High School football, basketball, and baseball fan.

Betty is survived by a son, Jody (Sandy) Holland of Harrah, OK; two daughters, Jenny (Larry) Goff and June (Robert "Jr.") Clark both of Carmi; a daughter-in-law Vicki Holland of Norris City; a son-in-law, Mike Wilson of Ft. Myers, FL; four brothers, Tom Rose of Howell, MI, William Albert Rose and Jimmy Leroy Rose, both of Carmi, and Frank Rose of Ft. Myers, FL; one sister, Veda Clark of Carmi; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  Betty is preceeded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Paul "Tiny" Holland; two daughters, Debbie James and Mary Lou Wilson; two brothers, Charles Robert Rose and Billy Ray Rose; and four sisters, Carolyn Holland, Elmy Rose, Ruby Hillyard, and Zelma Rose.



Funeral Services for Betty Lou Young, 85, of Carmi will be at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in Bruce Chapel Cemetery near Carmi.  Visitation will be Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Campbell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in Betty's memory to White County Senior Citizens Center or Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
