Betty York

Betty Jo York, 85 of Carmi, passed away Saturday June11, 2016 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. She was born February 2, 1931 in Springerton the daughter of Clyde and Lela (White) McGehee. She married Melvin "Rudy" York on June 30, 1953.
Betty was a homemaker, she enjoyed quilting and gardening and loved humming birds and the St. Louis Cardinals. She attended the First Christian Church in Carmi.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin "Rudy"; son, Bruce (Kim) York of Carmi; daughter, Deborah Jo (Mike) Olson of St. Louis; grandchildren, Zachary, Lucas, Richard, Leslie, Maria and Logan; great-grandchildren, Carson, Tripp and Layla Jo; brother, Jerry (Shirley) McGehee of Springerton and sister, Jewell Stocke of Carmi. She was preceded in death by her sister, Luanna Rush.
Funeral services for Betty will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday June 16, 2016 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi with burial in Hammack Cemetery in Springerton.
