Betty Wolfe

Betty Ann Wolfe, 82 of New Harmony passed away Sunday May 4, 2014 at West River Health Campus. She was born October 26, 1931 to Raymond H. and Fleeda (Parks) Marx.

She married her husband, Herdis W. Wolfe June 6, 1953 and they shared 42 years together before his death in March of 1997. Betty was a homemaker and full time mother. She was very active in her children's lives. She was a troop leader for her daughters girl scout troop, youth leader at Olive Chapel Church, a member of the Wabash Homemakers club.

Betty enjoyed spending time wither her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed hosting every holiday and birthday celebration for her family. We referred to these celebration as "Mom gathering her chicks together". She also enjoyed gardening and traveling.

She is survived by her son, Steven R. (Sharon) Wolfe of Mt. Vernon, daughters, Lee Ann Hart of Mt. Vernon and Diana (Pat) Beamon of New Harmony; brother Gene R. (Malita) Marx of Mt. Vernon; sister, Carol (Gary) Daws of Mt. Vernon; special companion, Elmer Whoberry of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Angela (Nathan) Davis, Eric (Monique) Wolfe, Zachary Beamon, great-grandchildren, Pake and Emma Davis, Cody Zink and Clinton Wolfe; several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herdis, her grandson, James “Chris” Zink, son-in-laws, Larry W. Lewis and Harold Hart.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday May 8, 2014 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon with Rev. Dallas Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Old Beech Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, Memorials are suggested to: St. Jude's Children's Hospital, The Posey County Humane Society and Deaconess Hospice. The family would like to thank the caregivers of Home Instead, Inc and the staff at West River Health Campus for the warm and compassionate care of their mother.
