Betty Smith

Betty Mae Gilpin Smith, 58 of Carmi, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday afternoon November 28, 2015 with her loving husband Tim by her side at Healthsouth in Evansville, IN.

She was born December 2, 1956 in Holcomb, MO and moved to Carmi as a baby. She had worked at the Carmi McDonalds and Walmart.

She loved her little dog, Baby GG and had a tender heart for abused dogs. She kept in daily touch with many family members and her Christian friends on Facebook.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jess Gilpin; sister, Peggy Cutchens and niece, Tonya Gilpin.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Tim; her mother, Mildred Dalton of Evansville, IN; her sisters, Barb (Joe) Sweet of Marion, Mary (Kenny) Johnson of Wadesville, IN, brothers, Bill (Diana) Gilpin, Steve (Delite) Gilpin, Tommy Gilpin all of Carmi; and Johnny (Virginia) Gilpin of Rossville; many nieces and nephews with Kristy being her favorite, and best friend, Angie Blaizer; mother-in-law, Donna Smith of Carmi; in-laws, Judy (Dave) Nelson of Chicago and Stevie (Carla) Smith of Carmi.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday December 2, 2015 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services. Memorials are suggested to the family to help defray funeral costs.
