Betty Lou O'Daniel, 86, of Effingham, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024. She was born on August 18, 1937, in Jamestown, Tennessee, the daughter of Homer Linder and Flawny (Peavyhouse) Linder Stover.. Betty married Edward Hillary O'Daniel, Jr. on August 4,1979, and he preceded her in death on April 1, 2010. She worked as an elementary school teacher and a remedial reading specialist at Jefferson School in Carmi until her retirement.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Kathi Jo (Patrick) Ackerman- Balsmann of Effingham, IL and their children who Betty was very close to, Morgan Lee (Tyler) Lindquist of Dallas TX, and Talyor Ackerman (Christy) Weiser of Chicago, IL and a great-grandchild, Jolene Lindquist; her son, Roger Lee Ackerman and his wife Carla of Wadesville. IN. and their daughters, Betsy and Emily. She is also survived by Hillary O'Daniel's daughters, Betty Wallace, Barbara Mann, and Niece Edwards

In addition to her husband, Betty is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mildred Copley, a brother, Jim Linder and a half brother Lee Linder

Visitation for Betty Lou O'Daniel will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Betty's memory to Jefferson Attendance Center and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, or can be mailed to 609 W. Main St. Carmi, IL. 62821.
