Betty Fleck

Betty Sue Fleck, 78, of Carmi passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at 5:20 a.m. at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born September 25, 1933 in Mt. Vernon, IN the daughter of Charles Marion and Iola Ruth (Elliott) Browning. Betty married Glen Brown on December 6, 1952 and he preceded her in death in 1976. She later married Herman Fleck on February 4, 1978 and he preceded her in death in 1996. Betty owned and operated The Dairy Maid in Crossville and alongside her husband Herman owned and operated Fleck Hardware in Carmi for many years. She was a member of Georgia General Baptist Church and attended Cherry St. General Baptist Church.

Betty is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Dan Kendrick and Crystal and David Blake II all of Carmi, and Mary K. and Les Boegemann of Benson, AZ; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Carl Joe and Marlys Brown of Carmi and Glen Alan Brown of Evansville, IN; a sister, Carrie Jane McInturff of Winfield, MO; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Lowes and Mabel Browning of Carmi, Wayne and Diane Browning of Crossville and Fred and Mary Browning of Beecher City, MO; nine grandchildren, Rebecca (Dustin) Fishback, Adam (Amanda) Brown, Amanda Brown, Danielle Kendrick, Ian Kendrick, Brooke Boegemann, Brittany Boegemann, Damon Cain and Zachary Blake; and a great-granddaughter, Elana Fishback.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ladorna Maddox and two brothers, Hiriam Joe Browning and Charles Marion Browning, Jr.

Funeral Services for Betty Sue Fleck, 78, of Carmi will be Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Cherry St. General Baptist Church in Carmi with Mike Fields officiating. Burial will be in Stokes Chapel Cemetery near Crossville. Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cherry St. General Baptist Church and again on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of the donors choice. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements
