Barbara Young

Barbara J. Young, 86, of Carmi passed away at 8:00 p.m., January 1, 2022 at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi.  She was born in Carmi on November 3, 1935 the daughter of Ervin and Mabel (Schauberger) Wagner.  Barbara married Herschel E. "Bus" Young on December 18, 1953 and he preceded her in death on August 4, 2015.  She worked as a bookkeeper over the years for various businesses, including Consumers Gas Co., Carmi Auto Parts and Given and Bridgeman Insurance.  Barbara was a member of First Christian Church in Carmi and attended Community Church.  She enjoyed bowling and golf with her husband, Bus, as well as doing needle point.

Barbara is survived by her two children, Diana Donahoo of Centralia and Mike (Jeanie) Young of Carmi; four grandchildren, Dawn (Jeff) McCoy, Michelle Phillips, Jason Young and Holly (Jeremy) Snow; six great-grandchildren, Danny McCoy, Matthew Philips, Jordyn Phillips, Samaira Snow, Courtney Snow and Addison Conner; a sister, Judy Brown of Evansville, IN; and a brother-in-law, Gene Young of Carmi.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four siblings, Robert Wagner, Betty Helms, Bill Wagner and Bud Wagner.

Private services for Barbara J. Young, 86, of Carmi will be held with burial in White County Memorial Garden in Carmi.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Barbara's memory to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at Stendeback Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
