Arthur Dell

Arthur O. Dell, age 76 of Mt. Vernon, died Thursday evening July 22, 2010 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was born June 7, 1934 at Leavenworth, IN the son of Harry and Elsie (Lynch) Dell. He married Helen Frederick on October 2, 1954 at Evansville and she preceded him in death on January 27, 2009.


Mr. Dell retired after 32 of being an owner operator truck driver for Perkins Furniture in Huntingburg. He loved watching wrestling and Nascar; fishing and hunting and his grandchildren. He also liked to work on old cars.


He is survived by one son, Randy (R.D.) Dell of Mt. Vernon; one daughter and son-in-law, Rose Marie and Ed Schamburg of Mt. Vernon; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Cathy Dell of Ramsey, IN and Irvin and Ann Dell of CA; one sister and brother-in-law, Rosalie and Roy Mowels of Cape Junction, OR; two grandchildren, Eddie Schamburg III and Keri (Patrick) Jackson; one great-grandson, Luke Jackson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; four brothers, Bob, John, Dallas and Roy; and two sisters, Marie Carpenter and Beatrice Mills.


Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday July 26, 2010 at the Austin~Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m on Monday. A private burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Evansville. Online condolences may be left at austinfuneralhome.com
