Arthur was born May 19, 1925 to Howard and Suzie Ashworth in Granite City, IL. He worked for Babcock & Wilcox and General Electric retiring in 1988.

Arthur was a United States Navy veteran serving during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of American Legion Owen Dunn Post #5, V.F.W. Post 1114, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Mt. Vernon.

Arthur was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and he enjoyed spending time at Diamond Lake.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan (Weintraut) Ashworth in 1997 and a daughter Susan McClellan in 2005.

He is survived by:

Amy Creek of Mt. Vernon, IN and deceased husband, Gary
Kathy Cape of Mt. Vernon, IN and deceased husband, Paul

Nine Grandchildren:

Funeral Services will be 10:00 am, Friday, June 22, 2007 at Austin Funeral Home, 1330 4th Mt. Vernon, Indiana with Reverend Amy Artis officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthews Catholic Church Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 pm until 8 pm, Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the funeral Home.
