Archie Brown, age 84, of Carmi, passed away Monday, September 24, 2012, at Phoenix Rehabilitation and Nursing Care. He was born December 20, 1927 in Centerville, the son of Clarence and Ethel (Cox) Brown. He first married Lillian “Deanie” Mick and she preceded him in death in 1965, he then married Betty McNeill and she survives.

Archie has farmed his entire life. In 1951 he started Brown Feed and Chemical and remained active until his illness. He was a member of the Carmi Elks Club and had also been a member of the Eagles. He was an avid supporter of Carmi sports, he had coached Babe Ruth baseball and had championship teams during his tenure. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife Betty; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Jeannie Brown of Carmi and Gary and Marilyn Brown of Crossville; one daughter, Donna McCord of Carmi; one step-son, Tom Muse of Carmi; eight grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Leroy and Verla Brown of Carmi.

He is preceded in death by three brothers, Robert A., Charles and Clarence Ray Brown; three sisters, Mae Burrows, Lucille Newcomb and Louise Kiefer; and one step-son, David Muse.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. On Thursday September 27, 2012, at First United Methodist Church in Carmi with burial in White County Memorial Garden. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the church. The Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
