Annie Mercer

Biography

Annie Ruth Mercer, age 80 of Mt. Vernon and formerly of New Haven, IL, died Tuesday afternoon October 29, 2013 at the Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 2, 1933 the daughter of George C. and Nannie (Boston) Karriker. She married William Lee Mercer and he preceded her in death.

Through the years, Annie had worked at K-Mart, Martin & Bailey in Carmi and had been a home health care provider until her retirement.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Lisa) Mercer of Columbus, OH; 1 sister, Shirley of Mooresville, NC; 2 grandsons, Andrew and Austin Mercer. She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, William and 2 sisters, Gladys and Nessie.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday November 2, 2013 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with burial in Weiss Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Online condelences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com
