Carmi, Illinois - Amy (Fechtig) Wood, 60, died Tuesday, December 20th, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana after a very brief illness. The oldest daughter of C. William (Bill) and Frances Fechtig, Amy attended Carmi Schools, graduating in 1980. She attended Illinois State University and Lockyear Business College. She
worked at Evansville Country Club prior to moving for work to Florida and Texas, returning to live in Carmi in 2019.
On October 30th, 1993, she married her high school sweetheart and best friend, David Wood. He survives in Carmi. She is also survived by her twin sisters, Mary Fechtig (Elizabeth Estes) of Saugatuck, Michigan and Martha Ahlers of Evansville; nephew, Nick Ahlers; father-in-law, Ted Wood; as well as by her aunts and uncle, Marjorie Fechtig, Mary Ruth Fechtig and Allen Fechtig; cousins, Scott Fechtig, Mark Fechtig, Lisa Wood, Julaine Nickels and Nicole Fechtig, and her best feline companion - Dash. She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law Bobbie Wood and her uncle, Norman Fechtig.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, December 28th at 12:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home, 609 West Main Street, Carmi, Illinois, with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Amy loved animals, so in lieu of flowers the family would love to help the animals at the Pets at Risk with any memorials. Amy was loved more than she knew. She will be deeply missed.
