Agnes Pauline Clark, 91 of Mt. Vernon, died on Wednesday afternoon May 11, 2011 at the Mt. Vernon Nursing Home & Rehab Center. She was born on March 2, 1920 in Morganfield, KY, the daughter of James Benedick and Mary Catherine (Capps) Greenwell. She married Lawrence C. Clark and he preceded her in death in October 1982.
Mrs. Clark was very proud of having been the first Meter Maid in Mt. Vernon and worked the election polls for many years. She and her husband had been foster parents. She was a lifetime member of the Church of God Mission in Mt. Vernon. She was lovingly called “Aunt Peenie†by her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, John V. Clark of Henderson, KY; a grandson, Dustin Clark of Robards, KY; a granddaughter, Tiffany Clark of Mt. Vernon; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Viola Guth of Mt. Vernon; many nieces and nephews; and her special family, all the staff and residents of Mt. Vernon Nursing & Rehab Center. She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Austin-Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2011 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Church of God Mission.
