Joseph Earl Albright, 72, of Norris City, passed away on December 14, 2021. He was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, on September 2, 1949. the son of Harold Earl and Betty L. (Breeze) Albright. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He married Shelia Joy Melvin on April 4, 1970, in Jacksonville, Florida and together they have shared more than fifty-one years of marriage. Joe served as an Illinois State Trooper from 1980 to 2002 and then continued his career in law enforcement as the Chief of Police in Enfield, IL and a Sheriff’s Deputy and Dispatcher for White County Sherriff's Office retiring in 2018. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Eldorado Branch. He enjoyed collecting and shooting guns and teaching others about gun safety. He also volunteered to help military veterans alongside his wife.
In addition to his wife, Shelia Joy Albright of Norris City, IL; Joe is survived by his mother, Betty L. Albright of Mt. Vernon, Il; children, Steven (Stacy) Albright of Temple, TX, Cheri (Tracy) Lakin of McLeansboro, IL, Brandon (Amber) Albright of Herrin, IL, and Deborah (Shiloh) Stone of Eden Prairie, MN; grandchildren, Sierra, Zach, Joseph, Alivia, Jaxon, Jayde, Alyzabeth, Cooper, Shiloh, Shelia, Daniel and Samuel; great-grandchildren, Paisley, Hamilton, Joey, Jacob, Zelda and Elijah; siblings, Bob (Kathy) Albright of Opdyke, IL. and John (Judy) Albright of Mt. Vernon, IL. He is preceded in death by his father, and a brother, William Albright.
Funeral services for Joe Albright will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with burial following at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norris City. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Contributions in Joe’s memory may be made to the Illinois State Police Heritage Foundation for Gold Star Families and will be accepted at the funeral home.
